An Inconvenient Truth

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

Jon and I went to see "An Inconvenient Truth" on Friday night, then went to the afterparty at the Embarcadero bar it was being held at in SF.  If you haven’t seen the movie, you need to go. It’s articulate; it’s personal (Gore is as we’ve never seen him in this movie), and more than anything else – it’s a call to consumers to show leadership, demand answers, and solutions, to environmental issues. Whether it means pushing your power company to switch to offering you green power alternatives; whether it means volunteering to clean up local water ways…it’s the "Just Do It" message to better care for, and nurture Mother Earth that we all need to sit down and listen to. And we each have to do our part to push retailers, technology companies, food production companies, energy firms, car manufacturers – ultimately the entire ‘food chain’, if you will – to go green.  Whether that means going and buying organic food from local farms, even if it means paying more; buying organic cotton clothing, even if it means for now paying more – you are voting every single time you get out there and do something like this.  And that’s the only way the economy – and then our politicians – will get the message that we’re serious about seeing them do the right thing.  So go see the movie. The numbers and facts are staggering. You will leave feeling like you just sat through a very intense lecture. If you like very good lectures, with the facts laid out very well – you’ll like this.
