If you’re a parent, or want to be one, or going to be one sometime sooner than later, you should consider informing yourself about what you can do to lesson the risks to your child/children that man made toxins pose, in your home.  One great resource is the Children’s Health Environmental CoalitionCHEC is a national non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public, specifically parents and caregivers, about environmental toxins that affect children’s health.  The organizations’ goal is to eliminate children’s exposure to man-made toxic substances by ensuring everyone’s right-to-know what is in their air, food, water and commercial products.  The not-for-profit is working to achieve this goal through increased scientific research, government policies which are more protective of children, and educating and mobilizing individuals like you and me to help support, and fund, such work.

You can easily learn more about the man made toxins that will affect your child’s health – CHEC has made it easy with the help of their website.  Check this out: http://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/education/articles-detail.asp?Main_ID=356. It’ll actually walk you through a virtual house, showing you what you need to know about everything from air purifiers to the wood you use in construction.  And best of all – they have a Safer Products Store…http://chec.greenhome.com/products/.  In partnership with Green Home – CHEC has put together a huge selection of all kinds of household items that are considered ‘environmentally superior’ products for you to use.

Check it out. It’s a great resource.
