The Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO) is pleased to announce that CNBC Europe has chosen Sacramento as the U.S. location for its next broadcasted debate on the policy issue of carbon-trading. The episode will end the 2007 series of debates, and the third season of “Questions for the Future”, and is entitled “The Cost of Carbon”. The last three debates took place in Aberdeen, Scotland on energy technology, in Brazil on the topic of biofuels, and in Berlin, Germany regarding energy security.
With the cooperation of SACTO, CNBC Europe producers have been in the process of selecting speakers and participants over the past two months. The participants include specialists from the Sacramento Region and all over the globe from academia, government, policy organizations, and business.
The region was chosen because California is leading the U.S. in policies attempting to curb the progression of climate change and improve air quality, as well as stimulate renewable energy commerce. Sacramento is, of course, the primary location in California for this policy discussion. Jeffrey Koewler, Managing Partner of Downey Brand Attorneys, and Chair of SACTO described the event as, “another example of how critical policy decisions are being made in Sacramento in an attempt to solve global problems. This location is where industry meets policy, a major factor in the rapid growth of the Sacramento Region as “green” technology hub.”
The event will take place at Sacramento State University on November 20, 2007. It is an invite-only event, and will include 20 to 30 active participants. If you would like to find out more about the program and view recent episodes, go to http://www.cnbc.com/id/18331201/site/14081545/.
SACTO’s cooperation with CNBC Europe is part of the overall effort to raise the visibility of the Sacramento Region, and promote its fastest growing industry sectors in clean technology.
