Have a Green Summer From Google

Sunday, June 4th, 2006

http://services.google.com/earth/green/.  Ooh, this is good. Google launches content play around ‘green’…not sure what the strategy is here, but if they wanted to, Google could hypothetically decide they want to own the category of ‘green’, do a bunch of partnerships with green pubs, both those online and off, green/hybrid automakers, as well as online info sources (blogs, news feeds, www.treehugger.com), and before you know it, wammo – Google could claim to have "the" green portal, if they so chose. Hmm. We’ll see what they end up doing with it.

Treehugger has pushed their www.treehuggertv.com brand into view, and before you know it, we’ll see MTV launch MTVGreen. One can hope, anyway.

You know, there’s also www.greenopia.com out there.  Maybe we’ll get some new, bigger green brands going out of all this.  I sure hope so. Maybe some of the execs at these companies will end up reading this blog and will take a hint.  One can hope ;-)
