Senate Rejects Drilling in Alaskan Refuge

You have no idea how pleased I am to hear this news. This is one big kick in the pants/motivation for every company out there working on a technology to serve our energy needs through alternative means. We can do it, should do, need to do it. I personally have signed every petition I could get my hands on, whether online or off, to make sure I made my voice heard in this discussion.

The fact is, it would have been “easier” to drill in Alaska according to the perspective of some. It’s more ‘work’ to challenge ourselves to come up with new ways, new ideas, new technologies that will mean less harm to the environment. Easier is not better. Easier is not necessarily what will keep us on the straight and narrow either. But this is a wonderful step in the right direction — and a new challenge for everyone committed to do what they can to support clean technologies - and to bring new support to an effort that has to be backed by us all.

I for one am very optimistic for 2006. There will be many challenges, but just seeing this one foot put down in the right direction - I, for one, have renewed hope and optimism that this kind of decision reflects the thinking of a great majority.

Whether it’s through the purchse of Green Tags to offset your energy use or car emissions, Solar Energy purchases, Water technology investments, use of recycled packaging and development of new recyclable products that use renewable resources, or even nanotechnology investments that will support envionrmental needs - do your part to support the ecosystem, and we will all benefit. Have a happy holiday! Sincerely, Lara
