The Second Annual Ethical Supply Chain Summit, 29-30 Amsterdam

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Here’s something you might want to check out: http://www.ethicalcorp.com/supplychain/agenda.asp

I had to post about this today, because the question of how industries can really create, and maintain their supply chains in ‘green’, ‘ethical’ ways was what prompted me to start writing a blog in the first place. My background training as a technology analyst, my experience working with supply chain management-oriented technology vendors, then enterprise logistics software companies, then content management system vendors, and so on, led me to the conclusion one day as I wandered around my then-neighborhood in Pacific Heights in San Francisco that we really didn’t have any good guidance as to how to measure that sort of thing, and I didn’t know anybody in my circles of associates and friends who knew how to do it either, and it was a darned interesting question. And I certainly at the time had no idea how to tell a company that yes, this company’s vetted their partners, their partners’ partners, etc., and everybody’s being very green and ethical, and this is all good.

So the question really intrigued me, and that’s when I started wanting to learn about who the ‘green’ technology vendors were out there, from solar to water to you-name-it – and to learn who the influencers were that were writing about environmental issues as business issues. Voila…my blog, my braindump, was born.

So here’s this Summit. I would like to be a fly on the wall to see what kind of perspective and sense of progress I would walk away with. I remember when the first one popped up on my radar. The list of attendees is fairly interesting; hopefully some good things will be shared in this Summit, and everyone will take away a few things to implement in their own organizations, and have success in doing so, too.
