So apparently this thing is selling for sub-$500 in India, and doesn’t require a license to drive.
It incorporates only 240 parts, vs. the huge amount required for gas-powered scooters, which brings down production and maintenance costs significantly for operators and maintainers. I might just have to get one of these.
Vectrix Corporation was formed in 1996 to develop and commercialize zero emission vehicle (“ZEV”) platform technologies focused on two-wheel applications. With a single focus to provide clean, efficient, reliable, and affordable inner-city executive transportation, Vectrix is leading an urban transportation revolution.
The first of a series of products to be designed and developed by Vectrix is an advanced zero-emission, battery-powered maxiscooter that offers comparable performance to a 400cc gas-powered maxiscooter. The Vectrix VXe offers urban commuters and fleet operators a cleaner, quieter and lower lifetime cost alternative to traditional gas scooters.
With four world class senior executives (including Carlo Di Biagio, the former CEO of Ducati Motor Holding, S.p.A.), six leading industry strategic partners (including Fortune 500, Parker Hannifin, NYSE:PH), six patents embodying over 100 claims, and over $25 million invested, Vectrix is positioned to be the market leader in zero-emission two wheel vehicles.
Vectrix USA is located in Newport, R.I., with an engineering and test facility in New Bedford, Mass. Vectrix Europe is based in Rome, Italy.
Initially, the Vectrix maxi-scooter will be available in major cities in Europe and the United States, including London, Rome, Milan, Florence, Paris, Berlin, Frankfurt, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Miami. The VXe will be sold through a combination of franchised retail stores, electric vehicle dealers, independent motorcycle dealers, and direct sales to fleet buyers.
Vectrix is building a worldwide distribution network. Accelerated Systems Integration, Inc. (ASI) is the recommended financing agent for the Vectrix Electric and Fuel Cell / Electric Hybrid Scooters. ASI provides financing for the Vectrix Scooter to consumers, private fleets, and municipalities throughout Europe and the United States.
